Emily Jane Dixon passed away at the age of 35 in her home town of Colorado Springs on April 10th, 2022. Emily was born on March 14, 1987 to Dr Stephen Dixon and Catherine Davis Dixon in Aurora, Colorado and was the second of four children.
Emily spent her formative years exploring the (at the time, undeveloped) fields surrounding her Briargate neighborhood in Colorado Springs on her 12 speed. She graduated from Liberty High School in 2005 and took off for Ft Collins to attend CSU, but couldn’t stay away from her beloved hometown for long and returned to complete her degree in Anthropology with a minor in Women’s Gender Studies from UCCS.
Emily was employed with El Paso County Department of Human Services at the time of her passing, where she was dedicated to helping people in need. Emily worked with compassion and empathy for those she served; she truly had a generous and tender heart.
Emily’s talents shone brightest in the arts where she sang and played piano and in any formal or informal debate, where her quick wit and tenacity made her a formidable opponent. Emily’s siblings will remember her most fondly for a quirky sense of humor and dedication to utter domination in board games, as well as her kind nature. However, above all things, Emily will be remembered by all as a devoted and loving mother. Her son Niko was her biggest source of joy and pride.
Emily is survived by her 12-year-old son, Nikolae, her mother Catherine, and her siblings, Erin, Molly, and Will. Her father Stephen Dixon preceded her in death.
A rosary will be said for Emily at 1:00pm on Thursday 21 April, 2022 at Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church (8755 Scarborough Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80920) with a funeral mass at 2:00pm and a reception to follow. Emily’s cremains will be interred at Fairview Cemetery in a private family ceremony at a later date.
