Elsie was born on May 31, 2006. As the oldest of six children, she learned young how to laugh at herself and others in the midst of chaos. Elsie’s joy in the Lord was evident through the many ways she loved and served others. An empathizer with a compassionate heart, she had the ability to walk into a room and read the needs of others, ensuring that everyone felt seen and known. Her infectious laugh and self-deprecating humor combined with her keen observation of people made her an excellent friend and companion.
She attended Rooted Church in Colorado Springs where she served on the worship and computer graphics teams and was active in small group and discipleship. She was preparing to lead her first devotional for the younger girls in youth group.
A gifted actress, dancer, and singer, Elsie performed in several shows with Starz Theater Company including playing Marian Paroo in the Music Man. Most recently, she played Peter Pan in Peter Pan, Jr. with Rise Christian Arts. She had recently begun working at Chick-fil-A and when not working or rehearsing, she loved to curl up with a good book or be with friends.
Elsie was homeschooled through her junior year while also attending Journey School (elementary) and then Rocky Mountain Classical Academy. She was preparing for her senior year with classes at Pikes Peak State College.
Elsie loved God’s Word and prayer walks were becoming a pattern for her. She went from prayer and praise on earth to praising her Heavenly Father face-to-face.
Elsie leaves behind her parents, Eric and Sara Smith, her siblings Alden (16), Liam (14), Evie (13), Della (11), and Sam (7), her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large family in Christ who loved her deeply.
Friends and family are invited to attend one of two open houses taking place from 4-7 pm on Friday, August 18 and Monday, August 21. The memorial service to celebrate Elsie’s life will be on Saturday, August 26 from 2:30-4 pm. All events will take place at Discovery Church, 4304 Austin Bluffs Parkway, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80918.
