Charles H. Evans was born in Pomeroy, Ohio in July of 1925. He died in Colorado Springs on Aug. 21, 2015. He died quietly at his residence with his wife, Charlotte, by his side, much as he lived most of his life. Charles grew up in and graduated high school in Pomeroy. He attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, for one year before being drafted for World War II. He served in the Philippines and Japan over a three-year period. After the war, he returned home and married Charlotte Mees. Three years later, he graduated from Ohio University with a degree in electrical engineering. They adopted one son,
Robert. Charles and Charlotte moved to Colorado Springs in 1982. In March of 2015, they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. In August of 2015 they celebrated their 90th birthdays with their family. Charles is survived by his wife Charlotte, son Robert, daughter-in-law Bonnie, and grandson Benoni as well as numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and -nieces, and great grand-nephews and -nieces. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Charles’ name to the “Memorial Fund of First Lutheran Church”, 1515 North Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80907. Or the “Wounded Warrior Project”.
