Carolyn E. Ihrig, was a caring wife, mother, gradmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away while at home of natural causes in the tender care of her loving husband on January 10, 2022, at age 79.
She was born to Howard and Eileen Christenson in Sydney, Nebraska on June 2, 1942. Carolyn grew up in Chapel, Nebraska as the oldest of five children. The family moved to Fort Morgan in the summer of 1955 where she went to high school while working for Don Macie's Drug Store as a soda jerk making the now elusive marshmallow cokes. She was an active youth including serving as a Worthy Advisor in the Rainbow Girls, playing flute as the first chair in the state honor band, lettered all four years in high school in music, and participated in the great school bus heist with her beloved classmates.
She married John Preisendorf on September 15, 1963 and together had two children: Lori and Amy. Due to life changes John and Carolyn later separated but continued to jointly raise their two daughters.
Carolyn was later married to her forever sweetheart Guenter Ihrig on June 14, 1996 at Chief Hosa, newar Evergreen Colorado, surrounded by family and friends.
Carolyn was an accomplished and recognized accountant and bookkeeper serving Colorado community for over 30 years with most of that time running her own businesses while helping others grow theirs.
She loved to be outdoors including fishing and camping but most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and spoiling her amazing grandchildren, To this day one of her favorite achievements was always catching bigger fish than her sweetheart.
She is survived by her loving spouse Guenter Ihrig, her children: Lori & Todd Chapman, Jason & Amy Ihrig, Amy & Jeff Higgins, Joshua & Margaret Ihrig, Jennifer & Greg Kenitzer, her grandchildren: John & Eric Chapman, Alex & Nick Higgins, Blake & McKinzie Higgins, Addison Ihrig, her Great-grandchild Brantly Carrigan, and her siblings: Ted Christenson & Mike Christenson.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Sue Guyot and Terry Christenson.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her doctors and caregivers who made the last years of her life not only possible but loving and special.
