Carol was born on August 8, 1929 in Little Rock Township, IL to Margaret Vilmin Erickson and Marley Erickson. She was the last of 6 children. Growing up in Plano, IL she loved daily visits to the library and movies at the local theatre down the street.
After graduating from Plano High School in 1947, Carol began working at Plano Farmers Grain Co as a bookkeeper, and was employed there for 68 years, only when the company closed its doors the year she turned 86!
Shortly after her graduation, she married Glenn A. Johnson on November 1, 1947, and was married for 70 years until his passing in 2017. Together they welcomed their only child, Patricia "Patsy" Harris.
As a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plano, Carol began playing the organ in her teen years and continued with Sunday masses and daily morning services until well into her 80's. Music was played daily in her home entertaining friends and family. She truly was a gifted pianist and played many weddings, funerals and events throughout the decades.
The Diocese of Joliet honored Carol as their Woman of the Year in 2013 with a Mass and banquet.
Carol's athletic feats were truly remarkable. She was an avid bowler and an exceptional golfer. Her achievements include induction into the Fox Valley Women Bowlers Hall of Fame, and several Club Championships at Cedardell Golf Course. During her golfing career she won trophies traveling and competing at other courses. She was a member of both the CLGA and LOTE leagues.
Carol leaves behind her best friend and daughter, Patsy (Doug) Harris of Colorado Springs, CO; and her loving grandchildren and great-granddaughters; Jackie (Ken) Huhn, and their children, Maggie & Lily of Monument, CO; and Jenn Harris of San Diego, CA; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A private Funeral Mass will be held in Colorado for Carol. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Illinois.
