Brian Lee Florence, loving husband, awesome, caring father, son, brother, uncle and friend went to rest with Jesus on Monday, August 13, 2018. Brian was born March 20, 1963, in Muskogee, OK to his loving parents Jarel and Linda Florence. His sister, Sheila, was there to greet him and two years later his brother Brett arrived to complete their family.
Brian graduated from Del City High School and he worked his way through college to graduate in 1987 from Central State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Brian worked field chemistry jobs after college that took him all over the United States. He settled in Dallas, Texas working as an Environmental Chemist doing gas chromatography/mass spectrometry work. While in Dallas, Brian met the love of his life, Heather. They married in Dallas on November 18, 1995, and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado immediately following the wedding and have lived in Colorado Springs since. In 1999, Brian graduated with a Master’s degree in Information Technology from Colorado Technical University. He worked as an independent contractor at Ft. Carson for over 15 years, where he made many friends.
One of the happiest days of Brian’s life occurred on November 30, 2005, when his daughter, Marjorie, was born. Marjorie was Brian’s light and he loved spending time with her. He taught her to love Jesus, be inquisitive, use her imagination, laugh and have fun. He also instilled in her a love of animals which led to six fish, two cats and two chinchillas.
As a family, Brian enjoyed traveling and many trips were taken to beaches, but also recently to England and Norway. Weekends were often spent hiking, fly fishing or working in the yard—except during college football season when all things stopped on Saturday’s to watch the OU Sooners!
Brian is survived by his wife, Heather, daughter, Marjorie, mother and step-father, Linda and Ron Bernack, sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Randy Wilson, brother and sister-in-law, Brett and Trese Florence, nephews, Dylan Wilson and Tristan Florence and niece, Chelsea Bright and her husband James. Brian was preceded in death by his father, Jarel Florence.
