Billie Beth Logan, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020, at the age of 89. Billie was born in Lamesa, Texas, and was the second child born to Harlan and Lillian (née Turner) Holt. During the Great Depression her family relocated to Idalou, Texas.
Billie moved to Ventura, California, and in 1955 married the love of her life, Bill Logan. In the early years of her marriage Billie was a bookkeeper and enjoyed being part of bowling leagues and the El Camino Women’s Club. In the 1960s, Billie began her international travels when Bill began working for J. Paul Getty and later Ralph M. Parsons. She supported him in his career and became proficient at moving the family to various locations around the world including Kuwait, the Philippines, Iran, Canada, and several U.S. locations.
After retirement, Billie and Bill resided in Ventura, California, for a number of years. They enjoyed visits from family, spending time with their friends, and trips to see the Rose Bowl Parade. She was the master planner for fun trips to Disneyland when the grandkids came to visit. In 1996, Bill and Billie moved to Colorado Springs and Billie enjoyed being a part of Pike’s Peak Neighbors and several bridge clubs. Billie was often Bill’s co-pilot as they took their fifth wheel around the country, conducting genealogy research and visiting friends and family. In 2012, they were fortunate to survive the Waldo Canyon Fire.
Billie loved reading, playing bridge, visiting with friends, taking tours within the U.S., and especially spending time with her grandchildren. At age 81, she learned to use an iPad to keep in touch with family members and to keep up with the news.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; sister, Wanda Burgess; and brother, Tom Holt. She is survived by her son, John Meek; daughter, Linda (Mike) Loomis; grandchildren, Jen, Ryan (Katie), and Ken (Sylvia) Loomis; as well as
great-grandchildren, Sasha, Isabel, Owen, and a soon-to-be-born
great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her brother Jerry (Sue) Holt and favorite niece Naomi. Other surviving relatives include her stepson Steve (Betsy) Logan and grandchildren Michael, Jesse, April, and Stephanie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
We want to extend our thanks to Billie’s special neighbors Chuck and Rolene for their many years of friendship and to Mary and Shannon from New Century Hospice for their care and concern during her final journey.
Burial services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, where Billie will be laid to rest with her beloved husband.
