Betty Lorraine Lockwood, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2015 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Russell Springs, Kansas, July 6, 1929, the third of seven children (and the only daughter) born to the late Charles and Betty Davis.
After graduating from Florissant high school in 1947, Lorraine went to work in Colorado Springs at Shepard’s Citations.
She met John (Jack) Lockwood when she was seven and he was nine, and decided right then that he was the one for her. They married twelve years later, on December 24, 1948.
Jack was in the Air Force, and shortly after they married, he was posted to Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas, where their first son John (Jack) was born in January of 1952. Jack and Lorraine moved to Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington, where their daughter Sheila was born in November of 1953. Then, back to Dallas/Ft. Worth, where their last child, Bryan, was born in January of 1955.
Their last posting was to Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. After twenty years of moving around, they decided it was time to go home to Colorado. Jack retired in July of 1966, and the family moved to Woodland Park.
Jack became a Deputy Marshal, and Lorraine went to work at the local drug store. A few years later, she went to work at Park State Bank as a bookkeeper, and retired from there in 1995.
Lorraine was a dedicated wife, mother, and daughter. After Jack was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, she took care of him until his death in 1986. Her son Jack was diagnosed with the same disease, and he moved home to be with his mother. She took care of him until he died in 1997. She also moved her mother into her home, and took care of her as well for a few years.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her youngest child, Bryan, in 1975. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila, of Colorado Springs; grandchildren John and Johanna, of Woodland Park; great grandchild Sean, of Woodland Park; her brothers Leslie (Betty) Davis, of Colorado Springs, Chuck (Hildred) Davis of Woodland Park, and Gary (Earlene) Davis of Grand Junction.
