Alfred "Al" Correll, age 73, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Al was born October 20, 1948 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to the late Clarence and Rella Correll.
He was raised in Truckton, a farm and ranch community East of Colorado Springs. He graduated from Miami Yoder High School in 1966 with a class of seven students, one of them being his future wife, Pat Book.
After high school, Alfred attended Southern Colorado State College in Pueblo and graduated in 1970. Upon graduation he was drafted during the Vietnam War and decided to join the United States Air Force. He was stationed at the Air Force Finance Center in Denver from 1970 to 1975. During this time he married Pat in 1971 and together they had two daughters; Tori and Tyler.
Al was an accountant for various businesses over the years and was the Chief Deputy Coroner of El Paso County for 10 years.
Al loved to play games and sports. He was very completive in fast pitch softball, bowling and tennis, playing competitive softball into his 40s and tennis into his 70s. He also enjoyed horseshoes, corn hole, reading stacks of books, cribbage, various card games mainly Rook, Pinochle, and Poker. Al connected best with people while doing activities and he was always up for a game of any kind. He could get pretty serious at times and was known to say “play your turn and then talk” during cards, but he certainly passed the fun of games unto others.
Al excelled at anything he pursued professionally or personally but his true joys in life were knowing Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and spending time with his family. He and Pat recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their whole family all together in the beautiful Colorado Mountains.
Al is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pat Correll; daughters, Tori Horling (Tony) and Tyler Heberer (Jeremy); sister, Linda Dickinson (Daryl); granddaughter, Andi Bell (Jason), grandsons Levi Heberer, Gabe Heberer, Landon Horling, Andrew Heberer and Noah Heberer.
Al was preceded in passing by his father, Clarence Correll and mother Rella Correll.
"Always pray to have eyes that see the best in people,
a heart that forgives the worst, a mind that forgets the bad,
and a soul that never loses faith in God"
