Maria was born in Bastrop, Texas March 3, 1941, to Francisco and Petra Gamboa Sanchez. She then married Jose Garcia and settled in Colorado City, Texas. She took pride in raising her family and had a love of cooking, no one would ever say they left her home hungry. She also worked sewing at the Walls Outlets in Snyder and Sweetwater. She loved playing bingo. She could spend hours talking on the phone with her sister. Later she and Jose moved to Lamesa to help with her grandkids. Maria was a simple woman and knowing that her family was taken care of was her greatest joy.
Preceding Maria in death are her parents Francisco Sanchez and Petra Gamboa Sanchez, Sisters Reynalda Sanchez and Aurora Selvera, Brothers Robert Sanchez, Jesse Sanchez, Joe Sanchez, Raul Sanchez, Frank Sanchez Jr, and Juan Sanchez.
Maria is survived by her husband of 51 years Jose, Son John Patrick Garcia and Marcy Vasquez of Lamesa, Texas, Daughter Joanna Garcia Royal of Laredo, Texas, Sisters Josie Lara, and husband Tanis of Colorado City, Texas, Minnie Garza and husband Juan of Colorado City, Texas. Grandchildren Alainna Garcia, John Patrick Garcia Jr., Sierra Harper, Desiree Royal, Jasmine Royal, and Levoy Royal Jr. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a Visitation for Maria on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 5-6 pm with Rosary to follow at 7 pm in the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at St. Ann's Catholic Church at 10 am with burial to follow in the Colorado City Cemetery.
