Mr. Jay McCollum, age 79, of Colorado City, died Monday morning, May 18, 2015, at his residence. Per his request, he is being cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Jay was born June 15, 1935 in Crane, Texas to O.J. and Emma Jo Hart McCollum. He married Charlene Branton on July 28, 1985 in Houston, Texas. He was a retired geologist and sales representative for DynaDrill. He was very active in church and civic activities in Colorado City including longtime member of the Lion’s Club and longtime president of the Heart of West Texas Museum.
He is survived by his wife, Charlie McCollum of Colorado City; a son, West Hart and wife Janet of Colorado City, two daughters: Lisa Cockrell of Colorado City and Shawn and husband, Jim Parker of Eddy, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
