He was born in McDonald New Mexico, son of Samuel and Myrtle Newman Richardson on December 15, 1941.
Jim was a man of the outdoors and spent his time with his wife Brenda working with their hands planting and nurturing what they could grow. Jim loved his family and enjoyed investing time in following their activities and accomplishments in life. After high school Jim earned his Bachelor Degree in wildlife management from New Mexico State, he spent a brief amount of time as a game warden only to return to his hometown farm near Lovington NM to start farming and operating a crop dusting business. In 1978, Jim purchased an old chicken house in Lovington converting it into a retail nursery. In 1982 Jim and Brenda moved to Llano, Tx and renovated a historical landmark home built in 1894 and on its grounds started another nursery, Country Gardens, that they ran together until their retirement in 2018. Jim and Brenda made their ranch near Colorado City their full time home shortly after their retirement. In his spare time Jim enjoyed everything outdoors, from hunting and fishing to watching the deer on his land and watching nature grow around him. Jim would also stay in touch with long time friends on facebook and he also enjoyed watching old westerns and Fox News. Jim enjoyed researching history including his genealogy and was fascinated with the region he had grown up in, southeastern New Mexico developing an expansive knowledge of Billy the Kid and the New Mexico Ranch Wars. He leaves behind a legacy of love and knowledge which will be passed on for generations to come.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Brenda Richardson of Colorado City, sons James William Richardson Jr and wife Lori of Lubbock and Bobby Bostic and wife Tami of Littleton Colorado, daughters Sonya Dee Richardson of Bremerton Washington and Valorie Ruth and husband Steve of Weiser Idaho, daughter-in-law Jennifer Bostick of Colorado Springs, Colorado, grandchildren; Derek Morrow, Candice Morrow, Matthew Ruth, Nathan Ruth, Benjamin Ruth, Sam Ruth, Abigail Walker, Naomi Ruth, Caleb Richardson, Skyler Richardson, Bethany Richardson, Chloe Richardson, Jessica Ulanski, Ashlie Bostick, Jordan Bostick, Dakota Bostick, as well as by numerous great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by a sister Nelda Key and her husband Ronnie of Yuba City California.
He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Myrtle Richardson, by a son Major Thomas Bostick Jr., by a brother Walter Keith Richardson, and by a sister Sami Hull
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Sunday, October 13th throughout the day at 6380 County Road 452 in Colorado City, a meal will be available at 4pm.
