Barbara Louise Hammond age 74 of Colorado City, TX passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 . She was born on May 19, 1947 in Odessa Texas to Harold and Jessie Pollard. She was a graduate of Odessa High School in 1965 and received her BS in Education from Sul Ross State University in 1970. Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church of Colorado City and the Retired Teachers Association. She dedicated her life to caring for and educating children. She taught 33 years at Colorado Independent School District; teaching 1st grade and later Reading Recovery. She volunteered on Wednesday nights with the Children's Ministry at First Baptist Church. Her greatest accomplishment and love was her two boys and her two grandchildren that she called the light of her life. She always treated her daughter in law like a daughter and loved her and her family deeply, spending many holidays with them all. She enjoyed spending time with her mother and father, brothers and sister in law, and their families. She looked forward to gatherings where they could eat, play games, and laugh. She volunteered her time to clean at the Samaritan House. Barbara was the ultimate hostess and her house was never dirty. She enjoyed serving and loving her friends and family. She and her friends would have “girls trips” where they ate, watched movies, and had a big time. Barbara loved romantic comedy movies and there isn’t a Hallmark movie made that she hadn’t seen. Her love for Jesus would shine through in her relationships and overall kind demeanor. Most would describe her as the kindest person they knew.
