Deacon William (Bill) C. Robinson of Camden, NJ, peacefully passed away in his sleep on October 19, 2017. Beloved husband of Shelia E. Robinson (nee Kalentek); brother of Peggy Brunetto and Paul Baker, loving father of Christine (Anthony) Scarpa, Deborah (Richard) Anderson and Sandy (Peter) Baczewski; grandfather of Timothy (Lisa) & Robert (Anne) Bridgeman, Michael (Ashlie) & Kristofer Scarpa, Richard (Jennifer)Lynch & Alyssa Anderson, Nicholas, Colin & Devin Hughes and Sonya & Rebecca Whitman. Great Grandfather of Coraline Bridgeman, Madison Scarpa & Richard Lynch Jr.
Born in Albany, NY, he was a member of the class of ‘57 Billerica High School (Massachusetts), Bill received a BS in Business & Management from LaRoche College in 1983. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 27 years and retired in 1986, retired from the Haddonfield Post Office in 2003 and thereafter worked at Blake-Doyle Funeral Home.
In 1988 Bill completed his study & was ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Diocese of Camden. Deacon Bill had been assigned to St. Joseph’s Pro- Cathedral & Transfiguration Parishes. He took great joy in facilitating RCIA and Baptismal Preparation and baptizing 151 children. Deacon Bill attained 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus in Collingswood & 4th Degree was awarded in Woodbury NJ.
He was the Past Commander of; American Legion Post 133 in Woodbury, Gloucester County Commander & NJ State Vice Commander. Bill was proud of his membership in the National Association of Letter Carriers, the Tin Can Sailors, Fleet Reserve, DAV, Am Vets Post 101 and was Past President of Branch 57. He was also involved with South Jersey Cursillo and Marriage Encounter.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing on Tuesday October 24, 5:30 – 8:00 pm at BLAKE-DOYLE Funeral Home 226 W. Collings Ave. Collingswood, NJ 08108 and Wednesday October 25, 10:00 – 11:00 am at St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral 2907 Federal St. Camden, NJ 08105. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in Calvary Chapel Mausoleum Cherry Hill, NJ.
