Erwin was born on October 1, 1948 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. He graduated from Glassboro State College with a Bachelor Degree in Education. Teaching was his passion and he taught English as a Second Language for the Camden School District for 32 years.
Affectionately known to his nieces and nephews as “Crazy Uncle Eddie”, he was known and loved for his great sense of humor, craft and artistic talent, love of flea markets and motorcycle riding. He also had a love for music, especially the Beatles. He enjoyed playing the guitar and keyboard. Erwin especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents, Luis and Leonor (Ramos) Suarez and his sisters, Freda Olmo and Evelyn Suarez, he is survived by his daughters, Mary Suarez-Colon (Juan) of Camden, NJ and Leonor Suarez of Haddonfield, NJ, his former wife, Theresa Suarez, and his siblings, Felipe Ramos, Iris Ibarrondo, Raphael Suarez and Olga Rivera, and his grandchildren, Juan Colon II, Noah Colon and Logan McCausland. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Blake-Doyle Funeral Home, 226 W. Collings Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108.
Visitation will also be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 2818 River Road, Camden, NJ 08105.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2398 Rt 70 W, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
