William Price Strong, known fondly as Billy, passed away on August 11, 2024, in Collierville, Tennessee at the age of 81. Born on January 24, 1943, in Memphis, Tennessee, Billy spent his formative years in Collierville, graduating from Collierville High School before graduating from Memphis State University where he was a proud Tiger fan.
Billy's career was largely spent at Goldsmith's in Downtown Memphis, where he dedicated many years of service. Beyond his professional life, Billy was an avid hunter and an enthusiastic outdoorsman. He cherished his hunting trips, including a memorable expedition to Canada where he proudly obtained a trophy black bear. His love for the outdoors was paralleled by his enjoyment of television shows such as Seinfeld, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune.
A strong-willed and independent man, Billy's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his spouse, Linda Strong; daughter Lynne Dailey and her husband Brian; son Bill Strong and his wife Sandy; grandchildren Ashley Fly, her husband Ryan, Taylor Strong, and Kyle Dailey, his wife Cayla; and great-grandchildren Keaton, Harper, Brooke, Knox, Madison, and Maverick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellie and Lida Strong.
Billy's life will be celebrated on Thursday, August 15, at Collierville Christian Church, 707 New Byhalia Rd., Collierville, Tennessee. The day will begin with a visitation at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. A private interment will take place at Magnolia Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the church.
