John Ernest Rogers, PhD, 65, of Collierville, TN passed away December 10, 2023. John was born on May 8, 1958 in Britt, IA. His family moved to Springfield, MO when he was a child. He obtained his PhD in economics from the University of North Carolina. He spent most of his life as an economics professor at many universities including: SIU Edwardsville, University of North Texas, Pittsburgh State University, and University of Memphis. After his years of teaching, he worked as an economics forecaster for FedEx. In his free time, John enjoyed camping, going on walks, and photography. His family was his biggest passion in life and he always made sure they were taken care of. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Platt and Arlene Brudtkuhl Rogers; and his sister, Pam Gage (Floyd). John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol Buffenbarger; son, John Christopher Rogers; and brother, Paul Nicholas Rogers (Christie). John will be buried in Arkansas City, KS with his parents.
