Glenda Smith Kimball was born January 5, 1936, in Henderson, Tennessee, to Glenn and Jennie Roark Smith. Her childhood, lived in Henderson, was filled with close relationships with her brother Tommy Smith, her parents, grandparents and cousins. She attended the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and graduated from University of Tennessee Medical Units-Memphis with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology.
While working at Baptist hospital in Memphis, she met her husband of 66 years, Dr. G. Howard Kimball. Early in their marriage, they gave their lives to Christ, and soon left for the mission field. They attended language school in Bahrain and served as medical missionaries in Ras al Khaimah, UAE. They had 5 children and eventually moved to Russellville, Arkansas, where Glenda managed Howard’s medical office and delved into real estate. In 2005 the Kimballs retired to Collierville, Tennessee. In 2019, after a brief move to Shreveport, Louisiana, they settled in Louisville, Kentucky.
Glenda attended Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church in Germantown, Tennessee, where she made deep lasting friendships. Glenda served in Alpha Omega Veterans Service Organization, the Salvation Army campaigns, political campaigns, Arkansas Hospice, and Bible studies. Her family was her love, which was evident as she enjoyed the growing extended family as her children married and their families grew. Glenda enjoyed tennis, reading, and physical fitness as hobbies.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard, her parents and her brother. She is survived by her children; Ken (MaryJane) and Alan Kimball; Chris (Kelly), McKenzie (Zachary) White, and Macy Kimball; Cynthia (Clark), Carter McFerrin, and Lauren (Parker) Kerstall; David (Carrie), Shaffer (Cassie), SaraCaroline (Kerry) Jones, AnneMarie, RebeccaGrace (Dylan) and Crews Lindsay, Ian, and Knox Kimball; and Daniel (Deanna) and Bismark Kimball.
Visitation will begin at 9 am with a memorial service to follow at 10 am on December 23, 2024, at the Collierville Funeral Home located at 3863 Bailey Station Rd, Collierville, TN. A graveside service will follow at 2 pm in the Henderson City Cemetery 150 N Church Ave, Henderson, TN.
