Carolyn McSparren, 87, passed away November 17, 2024. She attended Southwestern University in Memphis; she obtained her bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Masters in English from Memphis State University. Mrs. McSparren was a past member of the Neshoba Carriage Association and Bluff City Dressage. Her love of horses and animals was a theme that tied together her many published novels. She was also the editor of several anthologies. Mrs. McSparren was a founding member and first president of Malice in Memphis, the Memphis chapter of the national organization for women mystery writers, and past president of the River City Romance Writers; she taught writing classes at Memphis Public Library. She was a member of Church of the Holy Apostles in Collierville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Robert McSparren, and her parents, William and Beth Marsh.
She is survived by her daughter, Megan McSparren and son-in-law, Brian Griffith.
The family will receive friends on Friday November 22, 2024 from 4-6 p.m. at Collierville Funeral Home,3863 Bailey Station Road, Collierville, Tennessee. Services will be held on Saturday November 23, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Church of the Holy Apostles, 1380 Wolf River Boulevard, Collierville, Tennessee.
