Ann Crittendon was born in Union City, TN on September 25, 1948 to Jane Crittendon and R.A. Crittendon. After surviving cancer, and after a long struggle with illness she went to be with God on June 19, 2024 at 437pm at Baptist Memorial Hospital Collierville. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Danny Crittendon and Wes (Tony) Crittendon.
She was the oldest of four children, two girls and two boys. She graduated from Overton high school in 1966 where she was known as a shy but caring friend who opened up to her closest confidants.
In 1968, she met a young Marine named Joe Tomasello on Beale Street during the Memphis Cotton Carnival. They were married on July 8, 1968 and shortly after they moved to Jacksonville, North Carolina for Joe’s Marine Corps duty station. Ann was many things to many people during her life, but she was a caregiver at heart. With a newborn child, her mother suffered a serious illness requiring full time care, to which she dedicated herself to her care, while also caring for her youngest sibling and her own child. In later years, she took care of her father during his illness, and cared for her mother who lived with her for a few years until her death.
She held many jobs during her life - working at Shainburg’s department store, the Catholic Diocese of Memphis, Holy Rosary Catholic Church and school, Ridgeway Elementary School and the Reaves Firm. She realized a life long dream in 2007 when she was hired by an airline after completing flight attendant training.
She loved watching crime documentaries, reading, shopping, hanging out with friends and visiting with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Joe, sister Kay of Battlefield, MO and her life’s legacy which are her surviving children and grandchildren - Angelique Williams (Andrew) of Rolesville, NC, their children Nick Williams, SSGt, USAF (24) of Abilene, TX and Nate Williams (20), Spc, ARNG of Rolesville, N.C.; Jay Tomasello (Leslie) of Atlanta and his children Joseph Benjamin (17), Caroline Grace (12); and Laurel O’Connell (Sean) of Collierville and her children Joshua Michael (24), Anna Christine (23), Samantha Anne (16), Lucas Anthony (13), Jonah Aaron (11), Madeline Grace (8).
