Bill Stier of Colleyville, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2019, after a brief, but courageous, battle with stomach cancer. Bill was born on June 17, 1950, a native of New Holstein, Wisconsin and a 1968 graduate of New Holstein High School. Though his formal education ended there, Bill developed an outstanding reputation in business as a bright, energetic, risk-taking entrepreneur. Based in Carrollton, Texas, he successfully built from scratch Genesee Supply Company as a distributor of a wide variety of products for use in voice, data, audio and video networking, serving clients throughout the entire country.
Bill is survived by Nel, his loving wife of 31 years, daughters Sheri (Zeke) Morgan of Fort Worth, Texas, Jenna Stier Rauch of Germantown, Wisconsin, and grandchildren Tyler, Rylie, Paige, Adlen and William. Also surviving Bill are sisters Kathy (Chuck) Heise of New Holstein, Wisconsin, Mary (Gary) Meyer of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jane (Chuck) Lefeber of Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin, and Therese (Jon) Green of Hudson Wisconsin, and brothers Dan (Diane Sorensen) of Madison, Wisconsin and Terry of Fort Collins, Colorado. Among those so fondly remembering Bill is Nel and Bill’s very loving friend Carey Benander. Bill was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Shirley and Lloyd Stier.
Though Bill considered himself just one part of a large and loving family, there is no doubt that he was its heart and soul. Living life to its fullest, Bill gave his time and money generously to anyone in need, he was always there with a kind and supportive word when times got tough, and his big smile and infectious laugh lightened every load. He graced us all with his love.
Bill and Nel had a one-of-a-kind love affair. They were always together and they were always thrilled to have each other. They shared many trips to spectacular locations; Las Vegas and Cabo San Lucas were regular highlights. Bill was an avid and accomplished golfer, and Nel was there with him on every green. Of course, no one is perfect, and at least according to his Wisconsin relatives, Bill had one big flaw - he was a loyal and dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan. In the end, though, we decided that if Bill loved the Cowboys, they can't be that bad!
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on February 9th at 1:00 PM in the Wesley Chapel, Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, 9200 Inwood Road, Dallas, Texas. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Community Connections, 6100 Western Place, Suite 800, Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
