Tom was a US Army Vietnam veteran and served for 3 years. He was a transportation specialist both in Vietnam and in the Washington DC area prior to his discharge. He worked for American Airlines for 40 years. He was a member of the Transport Workers Union, Local 513 in Southlake, TX.
Tom was active in union work and held various offices in his local union, the Tarrant County Central Labor Council and Vice President of the Texas AFL-CIO for nearly 35 years. He was active in the Democratic Party and served the Transport Workers Union in legislative affairs for many years both in local, state and national matters. He was elected to both the Texas AFL-CIO Labor Hall of Fame and the Texas Labor Management Hall of Fame.
Tom was known for his sense of humor, ability to get things done, love of fishing, Novembers on N. Padre Island and his many friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Peggy, son Thomas M. Carlin, daughter in law Cameron Carlin and grandson Garrett Carlin of Acworth, GA.
For the last several years Tom has fought the effects of Parkinson's disease which he acquired due to his exposure to Agent Orange during his service in S. Vietnam.

Funeral arrangements are at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, TX 76034. Visitation: September 19, 2024 from 5:30-8:00pm. Funeral service: September 20, 2024 at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or The Texas AFL-CIO Scholarship Fund or The Fisher House Foundation.
