In addition to raising her wonderful family, Sherri spent her career in the field of retirement properties, management, and marketing in the Cleveland Ohio and Bay Village, Ohio areas.
Sherri received her education at the Chicago Art Institute and The Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois in the early 1960s. Sherri was terrifically talented in both the dramatic arts (acting) and in the creative arts (drawing).
After her retirement in Cleveland, Sherri pursued her love of theater as an actress at both professional and community theaters. She appeared in all kinds of productions – comedy, drama, and musicals. Sherri performing throughout the Cleveland area at theatres such as the Cleveland Playhouse, Halle Theater, Great Lakes Theater Festival, Cain Park, Beck Center for the Arts, Dobama, Ensemble, Weathervane Playhouse in Akron, Ohio, Clague Playhouse, the GCC and Berea Summer Theater.
Modeling and acting for Ford Models Inc., in Cleveland Ohio also gave her great joy!
Sherri relocated from Cleveland Ohio in 2007 to be closer to her family in Dallas, Colleyville, Austin and Memphis, Tennessee. Without a beat, Sherri continued her love of acting in local theatres such as the Theatre Arlington, in Arlington Texas and the Artisan Center Theater in Bedford, Texas. Sherri was also the director of the Colleyville Choralaires and active in the TAG Players, a reader’s theater-style entertainment group!
Travel was another great joy! Sherri made trips throughout the US plus ventured to China, Japan, and Europe. Her favorite trips of all were to visit her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her Niece, Ashley Erin-Morgan Collins (deceased 1989) Father, Joe Collins Jr. (deceased 1991), Husband, Thomas Joseph Britton, (deceased 2000), and Mother, Althea Jo Collins (nee Foehlinger) (deceased 2007).
Sherri Britton has so many who will miss her dearly and who relish in the thought that she is “breaking a leg” in the Great Theatre Above!
Sherri is survived by all three of her children, Thomas Patrick Britton of Bedford, TX, Lisa Ann McNerney (Paige) of Austin, TX and Krista Marie Britton of Austin, Texas, her brother Michael Kevin Collins (Linda) of Colleyville, TX, and her sister, Kelley Lee Martin (Chris) of Houston, TX, her nieces, Samantha Gabrielle-Amanda Collins of Austin, TX, and Kathryn Alexandra-Lauren Collins of Colleyville, TX. Her grandchildren, Brenna Ann McNerney, Kara Kristina McNerney, Miranda Shea McNerney, and Ethan Patrick McNerney, all of Austin TX, and grandnephew, Giovanni Cassius-Michael Collins, a.k.a. “Mr. Bean.”
We love you Sherri, Mom, Aunt, and Grandma!
