Raymond Joseph Galloway, Sr., was born on July 31, 1931, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, to Alice Hoben and William Galloway.

In 1952 he spent a year in Korea during the Korean War where his assignment was Logistics. He was then employed by Trans Caribbean Airways in 1955 where he was an Operations Manager/Dispatcher. He worked there for 16 years until American Airlines bought Trans Caribbean. He continued as a Dispatcher for American and was employed there for 22 years He received a number of awards through the "Ideas in Action" program. He earned the nickname "The Commander." He retired in 1993 with a total of 37 years of service.
On April 27, 1957, Ray married the love of his life, Katharine Ann Delaney. God gifted them with two children, Raymond Joseph Jr and Bernadette Katharine. Ray and Kay were married for 34 years until Katharine passed away in 1991.
In 1966, they moved to Massapequa Park, New York where they became parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of the Island, Council 6911, where he served as Deputy Grand Knight and was bestowed a Lifetime Honorary Member. The 4th of July was one of his favorite holidays and his patriotic spirit was celebrated when he marched in the parade with the Knights of Columbus and hosted a big pool party. In 1980, American transferred Ray and his family to the DFW area of Texas. They joined St. Michael's Catholic church in Bedford. He was active in the "Respect for Life" group and was very devoted to saying the Rosary. He once went to California to help fly an infant to Texas for adoption. He was also instrumental in raising funds to assist with building of the Sanctuary and Chapel at St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was very generous in sharing his time, talents and treasure and stood as a wonderful example for us all.
He had a swimming pool and welcomed everyone in the neighborhood to enjoy it. Soon it became known as "Papa's pool".
He had a wonderful smile and was a good listener. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed.
Ray, Dad, Papa, may God lift you up on eagle's wings and hold you in the palm of His hand.
If we could ask him just one question about Heaven, I'm sure he would answer with his typical "Fantastic!"
