Mrs. Mary E Givens

Mary Evelyn Givens was born 5/31/1941 and returned to the Lord June 18, 2023. She was born in the Cisco, Texas area to James Ray Reeves and Bernice Winifred Powell. She moved to the Watauga area as a teen and was a graduate of Birdville (now Haltom) High School. She was a resident of Watauga for over 40 years. She met the love of her life Tim Givens at the Lone Star Drive-In in Fort Worth Texas. They married on March 19, 1965 and celebrated 58 years of marriage earlier this year. They moved to the Arlington Heights area and then to Haltom City where they began their family with the births of their two son; Scott and then Toby. Her sons were the apple of her eye and she would carry on to anyone who would listen about them both. Mary worked for and retired from the Birdville Independent School District where she worked in Food Service were she was, as her boys affectionately referred to her as the “Lunch Lady.” She loved attending their sports and extracurricular events and many times it was just she and Tim watching the fledgling Haltom High soccer team. She was active in Women’s Missionary Union at her long time church First Baptist Church of Watauga. Her last several years were spent in skilled nursing due to health issues. She made the best of her situation and was very involved in activities and “holding court” with her buddies in the facility. Her family said she was “living her best life” whilst residing at Glenview Wellness and Rehabilitation. She was also the Resident Council President at her residence. She was a simple woman who took delight in small gestures and loved her family and her 5 grandchildren like no other. The smile on her face and the accompanying gasp of joy at receiving something as simple as a new photo of a member of her family will be forever remembered by her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Bernice Reeves and her brothers Joe and Jimmy Reeves.

She is survived by her long time husband Tim Givens of Richland Hills, son Scott Givens and wife Teri of Azle, son Toby Givens and wife Leah of Bedford, grandchildren Carley Oates of Fort Worth, Whitney Barker of Fort Worth, Kieran Givens of Azle, Nolan Givens of Bedford and Parker Givens of Bedford.
