Joe Lynn Crowson, 85, of Burleson, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 13, 2019. He was born to Richard and Maudie Crowson on August 26, 1933, in Hopkins County. Joe will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend to all that knew and loved him.
Joe was drafted into the Army in 1953 and served his country with pride during the Korean War. On February 16, 1959, he married his wife of 60 years, Jeanette Hicks, and they had two children. Joe was a devoted husband and father that worked hard to provide for his family. He was a good man that touched many lives by giving of himself, including risking his own well being by jumping into a river to save a man that had driven off a bridge into the water below. In 1997 Joe retired from General Motors after 43 years of dedicated employment.
Joe was a man that came from little, worked hard, and left this world a better place through the sweat off his back. Our family has many fond memories of snow skiing, fishing at the lake, cruise ship vacations, pool time in the back yard, and wonderful holidays thanks to this man and what he provided for us.
Joe was preceded in death by his sisters Ruby, Edna and brothers Alvis, Thurman, Clifford, Wilson, Sam, Alfred, Herschel, Richard, Henry, and John.
Joe is survived by his wife Jeanette; son, Lynn Crowson; daughter, Sherri Thompson and her husband Clay; grandchildren, Trey Crowson and his wife Dana, Whitney McKenny and her husband Jim; great-grandsons, Blayne, Trentin, and James; brother Billy Crowson and wife Nell, JoNell Willis; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The Military Committal Service will be held at 10:30 am on June 10 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, https://alz.org .
