Joan King was a native of Walters, Oklahoma. After graduating from Walters High School, she ventured to Fort Worth in 1948 to attend business school. It was during her time in Fort Worth that she met Jack King, a valiant World War II veteran and entrepreneur. Their union flourished for 54 years until Jack’s passing. Professionally, Joan dedicated 29 years to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department as an Office Manager before her well-deserved retirement.
Joan loved spending time with her family and friends. She was blessed with a daughter and son-in-law, three cherished grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She was an enthusiastic traveler, an avid bridge player, and a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. She attended Sunday school and church at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Haltom City and for many years she was a regular member of Richland Hills Eastern Star. Joan will forever be remembered for her unconditional love of others, her infectious laugh, being a committed and hard worker, and as an example of resilience and triumph over adversity, including as a 45 year breast cancer survivor!
Joan is survived by her daughter Lou Anne King Jensen and her husband Jeffrey James Jensen; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jack King.
Joan's funeral service will be Thursday October 26, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home 5725 Colleyville Blvd. Colleyville, Texas 76034. Committal Service to follow at 11:00am at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
