Gloria was an energetic dynamic mom, successful in various careers, loving, caring supportive to all especially her husband.
Gloria married her one true love, Ralph A. Torres, in 1968. Following their nuptials, they were fortunate to live in many places in the U.S, Europe, South America, and Caribbean. Gloria was the conductor who orchestrated packing, moving, enrolling, registering, unpacking and all the chaos involved. During their transfers she created an air of peace and reassurance. Her love, encouragement, support was a source of strength for Ralph.
Each of their five children has a lifetime of memories & stories of all their mom did for them. In recent days, their childhood friends have relayed stories of all Gloria did for them or their team, group or class. Friends and classmates all remember her as a strong mom that fiercely loved & protected her children. Her & Ralph’s former colleagues have called citing Gloria’s helpfulness, kindness & cheerful attitude.
Gloria was a successful realtor in San Juan, a loved & recognized math teacher in Bogota, Colombia. She worked with a private investigation firm. Had management roles for major department stores. While serving as a Vice Consul at the American Consulate in Caracas, Venezuela, the U.S. Ambassador & State Department recognized Gloria for her role in the search & recovery of a missing American. She was also recognized for her ability to spot & stop visa fraud identifying suspects & their operational patterns.
Above all else, in all the reminiscing, the common lesson for all her children, taught through modeling, was strength, independence, kindness and compassion.
Gloria was preceded in death by mother Ana Diaz, dad Lalo Diaz, brothers Ed Diaz & Felix Diaz. Survivors include husband of 55 years Ralph A. Torres, children Lori & Ricky George, Victor & Susan Torres, Bonnie Torres-Jordan & Michael Jordan, Cathy & Bryan Davis, Christine Torres, 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her sisters Ana Escamilla, Yvette Grehalva, Yvonne Diaz.
Inurnment is planned for early April at Ft Bliss National Cemetery.
