Grant DeHoogh, of North Richland Hills, Texas, was received into the arms of God on March 27, 2021. He will always be in our hearts and will be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, uncle, and friend to all that knew and loved him.
Grant was born on June 20, 1994 in Fort Worth, Texas to Jeff and Janet DeHoogh. Grant was a wonderful surprise to his family, always making the ordinary, extraordinary. “Baby Grant”, his big brother, Matt, and big sister, Lauren, shared the fiercest and tender love that siblings could. Lauren and Matt cared for him like a second set of parents – they were inseparable throughout his childhood years.
As Grant moved through middle school and high school, he enjoyed playing percussion in band, football, swimming, running, and working out at the gym. He loved being part of the Richland High School Johnny Rebs. It is through these years that Grant formed many strong friendships that he held dear to the end. He was obsessed with the Miami Heat and Formula 1 racing and often woke up early and stayed up late to watch a game or race. Grant was a caring, gentle, and giving young man and positively impacted all of those he touched.
During this time, Grant met Haley Leverett knowing that it would be she that he would one day marry. Grant’s best years were with Haley and her family – they loved him like their own son. They married June 1, 2019 in Keller, Texas. Grant and Haley both pursued careers in pharmacy and attended University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, for their undergraduate degrees. They attended the University of North Texas Health Science Center College of Pharmacy in Fort Worth, Texas together where Grant received his Doctor of Pharmacy in December 2020.
The Dutch in Grant made him love to work. He was so personable, he could walk into any business, ask for a job and get it. He enjoyed jobs that involved helping people the most. He worked as a lifeguard for the City of NRH during high school and as a pharmacy technician for Medical City and Baylor Healthcare System hospitals throughout pharmacy school.
Grant is survived by his wife, Haley Leverett of North Richland Hills, Texas; his grandparents, Shirleen DeHoogh of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Bill and Jane Breeding of Altus, Oklahoma; his father and mother, Jeff and Janet DeHoogh of North Richland Hills, Texas; his sister, Lauren Pendergrass and her family of Dixon, Illinois; his brother, Matthew DeHoogh of Joliet, Illinois; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Grant was preceded in death by his grandfather, John C. DeHoogh of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
