Floyd was born on July 5, 1932, in Manteno Illinois to William and Roxie Hayen (Crites).
After high school, he attended Murray State University. While at Murray State, he made the decision to join the United States Air Force. He served as a navigator in both an active duty and reserve capacity for more than twenty years, obtaining the rank of Major.
Floyd married Geraldine Polk, “Gerry” October 22, 1955, in Waco, Texas. Together they shared 67 years of marriage. Floyd and Gerry went on to have two sons, James Russell and John Randell.
While maintaining his reserve status in the USAF, Floyd began a career as a store manager with Sherwin Williams where he retired after 51 years. Floyd was a member of Shady Oaks Baptist Church in Hurst, Texas.
He was a dedicated Husband, Dad and Grandfather who was Paw Paw to his grandchildren. Floyd was a faithful Baylor Bears fan.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, William and Roxie and sister, Francis Howard.
He is survived by his loving wife Gerry Hayen; sons, James Russell (Lesa), John Randell (Cherryl), his brother, Don Hayen and five grandchildren: Amanda, Alexis, Clay, Chase, and Cam.
Friends will gather for a visitation the evening of Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home located at 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034 from 6pm-8pm. A graveside service will take place, Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 11am in the Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
