Elizabeth Ann Leffingwell, née Clegg formerly of Colleyville, Texas passed away on December 12, 2024 in Lewisville, Texas. She was born on October 10, 1944 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Betty was raised in Shreveport, Louisiana by her mother Margery Bullock and step-father Jimmy Bullock. She graduated from Fair Park High School and attended Northwestern State College and Oral Roberts University. Betty was married to Stan Leffingwell on March 30, 1968 in Houston. They spent the following 2 years at Fort Lewis in Washington. In 1970, Stan and Betty returned to San Marcos where he practiced dentistry and they raised their sons.
Betty was involved in many social circles including The Heritage Association, Junior League, Chairman of the River Arts Festival, and the 10th District Dental Society Auxiliary. She was also involved in several local bible studies and Women’s Aglow. Betty taught at Hill Country Christian School for several years. She was very dedicated to her students and proud of each of them. To this day many reach out to say what a godly influence she was upon them. In 1986 Stan sold his practice and he and Betty became dental missionaries for several years serving in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The family moved to Colleyville in 1991.
During their years in Colleyville, Stan and Betty were active members of Colleyville First Assembly of God where they were involved in life groups and Betty served in music ministry. They later became active members of Grace Community Church in Southlake. Betty’s special gifts included her music ministry and her gift of encouragement. If you were fortunate enough to be her friend or even just an acquaintance you no doubt at some point received cards from her expressing her gratitude and scriptures of encouragement. She was always cheerful despite her health challenges, and welcomed visitors warmly with love and prayers. Many will remember hearing her play her Steinway or joyously singing around the house. She was a mentor to many and her strong Christian faith was a great influence to all who knew her. She exemplified the attributes of a Proverbs 31 woman.
Betty is survived by her sons, Dr. and Mrs. Clifford (Karla) Stanley Leffingwell III of Wahoo, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Chris (Marcy) Leffingwell of Coweta, Oklahoma, Mr. and Mrs. Clint (Christy) Leffingwell of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren Conner (Michaela) Leffingwell, Brady (Abby) Leffingwell, Logan (Chelsea) Leffingwell, Alexis (Blake) Ellsworth, Ava Leffingwell; and great grandchildren Fallon and Tommy Leffingwell. She is also survived by her brother James (Pam) Clegg and sister Penny (Johnny) Dunning, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
