With her daughters, Debbie and Paula, by her side praying, singing hymns, and telling her how much she was loved, she took her last breath. She will always be remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend to all that knew and loved her. She was born on February 22, 1927 in Haskell, Texas to Henry Eugene Barron and Lillie Mae Mitchell.
The family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico when Dorothy was 2. She grew up in Hobbs and graduated Hobbs High School in 1945. While working as a secretary at Hobbs Army Airfield during the war years, she met a young pilot Fred Stone, and at the age of 21, Dorothy and Fred married in September of 1948. Over the next 19 years, Dorothy gave birth to 3 sons and 3 daughters. They lived in New Braunfels, TX, Panama City, FL, Detroit, MI, Biloxi, MS, the Philippines, Sherman, TX, and finally in Euless, TX. After surviving a stroke in November of 2010, her daughter Debbie and granddaughter, Christina, became her care givers for the past 9 years until her passing.
Survivors include her two sons, Doug Stone and wife Terri, David Stone; two daughters, Debbie Henderson and husband David, Paula Bolinger and husband Mark; two grandsons, David Randall and wife Brittany, John Henderson and wife Naoko; eight granddaughters Mary Popplewell, Patricia Randall, Shannon Ingebritson and husband John, Sarah Wright and husband Daniel, Gina Lewis and husband Chris, Jennifer Kimberling and husband Crawford, Christina Henderson, Ariel Ann Stone; eleven great grandchildren, Lexianne Stanley and husband Chris, Isabelle Jordan, Brittany Edwards and husband Marcus, Abby and Claire Allison, Kayley and Garrett Randall, Charlotte and Ella Lewis, Stephen and Hannah Henderson; two great great grandchildren London and Boston Stanley. Also nieces, Karen Whitt and husband Phill, Evelyn Acord and husband Curt, and Betty Joyce and nephew Jimmy Graham.
She was preceded in death by her parents Henry Eugene and Lillie Mae, husband Fred Stone, her 7 siblings, Josie, Ethel, Ann, Charley, Alma, Rosie and Mary, and daughter Beverly Nagy, and son Ronald Stone
The visitation will be held from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on May 26, 2020 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel. Grave side service will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
