Dennis was born in Browning, Montana, and grew up in Bremerton, Washington. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale, WA where he starred in golf, basketball, baseball and football. After high school, Dennis married his sweetheart Merry and elected to attend flight school at Boeing Field in Seattle where he earned his first pilot’s license. He began his flying career as a pilot with Zantop Air Transport flying freight out of San Francisco, CA. Dennis was hired by Delta Airlines on 2/14/1966 and moved from San Francisco to the DFW area where he was based. He flew for Delta for 31 years ending his career as a captain on the MD-11 flying international routes out of Portland, OR. Dennis was an avid golfer with numerous club championships. Dennis loved to coach each of his four boys as well as his grandchildren in various sports. He was a co-founder of Little Dribblers Basketball, a national organization, and was President of the association for several years.
Dennis had many accolades throughout his career, but he was most proud of the family that he created with 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. “Many men can make a fortune, but very few can build a family.”- J. S. Bryan
