She was born in Waco, Texas on December 5, 1929 daughter of William Lark and Nola Francis Smith. She married a handsome young Air Force Lieutenant, Maynard N. (Dan) Heth on March 24, 1951. Together they had three daughters Karen, Linda and Lou Anne. Bobbie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She enthusiastically embraced the life of a military wife and mother, making a home wherever her husband’s career took the family. She was creative, clever, and funny, with a sharp tongue and a sharp wit, which she always softened with love.
After Dan retired from the Air Force and the years of frequent moves were over, Bobbie was thrilled to settle back in Texas. She found new joy in time spent with her extended family, sharing memories, dinners, celebrations and many a Dallas Cowboys Football game. Settling down also enabled her to volunteer time at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Hurst, then at Crown of Life Lutheran in Colleyville.
Bobbie enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, cooking, baking and decorating exquisite cakes for birthdays and weddings. If there was a wedding in the family, Bobbie most likely made the cakes. She made clothes and costumes for her daughters and then for her grandchildren. Her talents were undeniably a gift to those in her family and many of her friends.
She will be especially missed by all who loved her; her husband of 72 years, Colonel (Ret.) Maynard N. Heth, daughters Karen Heth De Hoyos and Lou Anne Heth Carson, along with their respective spouses, Juan De Hoyos and Bill Carson; granddaughter Johanna Urquhart and her husband Mark Urquhart and their daughters Maggie and Molly; grandson Nathan Thurman and his wife Brena Thurman; and her daughter Linda’s partner of 24 years, Graham Everett. She leaves behind nieces, nephews and friends, notably her nieces Phyllis McConnell and Judy Montgomery who so lovingly contributed to her care and companionship in the last few years.
Bobbie is reunited in Heaven with her parents, her daughter Linda K. Heth; sisters Wilma Dainwood, Delma Ruby, Martha Henzel, Betty Thrasher, and brother Bill Smith.
“Mama, we will miss you and love you forever.”
