Annie Beth Sullivan, 95 years old, of N. Richland Hills, TX, passed away on June 18, 2023. She was born at home on March 23, 1928 and was the youngest ‘surprise baby’ of 6 children born to Robert and Lotus Spain. She grew up on a farm between Aledo and Weatherford, TX, in the community now known as Hudson Oaks.
Annie Beth graduated from Aledo High School as Valedictorian of her class in 1946. She then attended Brantley-Draughon Business College in Fort Worth, TX where she met her husband, Dwight Sullivan.
She and Dwight married on September 14, 1951 and were married until his death on August 2, 1967 due to a sudden heart attack. She was 39 and he was 48. Annie Beth was suddenly a widow with 2 children, ages 11 and 9.
Annie Beth had a career in Bookkeeping and Secretarial work. Her first job was in the tax office of the Weatherford Courthouse in Weatherford, TX. She also worked at Mid-Continent Supply Company in Fort Worth. Then, she and Dwight decided to start their family. She became a homemaker in the early 1950’s until Dwight passed away in August of 1967. She stayed home for a year after he passed, and then began working at various places such as Glenview Pharmacy, Little Tyke Daycare, Richland Hills Church of Christ, Russell Stover’s Candies, Lennox Air Conditioning, Bell Helicopter International, and American Airlines. She retired from American Airlines after 15 years of service in 1993. After she retired, she worked part time for a vitamin store in N. Richland Hills and Stripling-Cox at North Hills Mall.
She was a faithful member of Richland Hills Church of Christ for many years and in her twilight years, she became a member of Legacy Church of Christ. The Richland Hills Church surrounded Annie Beth and her children with love, comfort, and friendship after she lost Dwight so suddenly. The Legacy Church of Christ watched over her and loved her so well in those later years of her life. She loved her Country, and was passionate about conservative politics. She was very concerned about the moral trajectory of our Nation, and did what she could to preserve Her. She did her best to correspond with her representatives and senators in Washington D.C. She was also passionate about maintaining good health. From her 40’s to almost the day she left this earth, she took supplements to keep her body strong and healthy. In addition, Annie Beth loved music and played the piano. She also enjoyed crafts of many kinds, including ceramics.
Annie Beth was survived by her daughter, Bethany Anne McGregor and her husband, Tom of Arlington, TX, her son, Robby Sullivan and his wife, Deletha of Richland Hills, TX, grandchildren, Stewart McGregor, Travis Sullivan and his wife, Kristen, and Taryn Freeby and her husband, Cody, and great grandchildren, Joel and Rose Sullivan and Addison and Sara Freeby. She has one surviving cousin, Delores Morgan of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, as well as surviving nephews, Richard King, Jackie Spain, Joe and Ken Spain, and nieces, Teresa Warren and Foylene Spain as well as niece in laws, Modena King, Beverly Werner and Sonja Spain. Annie Beth is also survived by many great nephews and nieces.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 2pm, June 28, 2023, at Legacy Church of Christ at 8801 Mid-Cities Blvd., N. Richland Hills, TX 76182, with visitation at 1pm before her service.
