Mitchel Levi Kingsley

Mitchel Kingsley was born in a farm house near Thief River Falls, Minnesota on July 5th, 1916. He was the second of six children of Lewis Levi Kingsley and Estella Luella Eastman Kingsley.

Mitchel served in harm’s way in the United States Navy for three years during World War 2 as a Radioman 1st Class. Things learned in the navy formed the basis of a lifelong hobby as a licensed ham radio operator. Following the war he taught school for four years before starting work with Mobil Oil Corporation in Augusta, Kansas. In 1963 he transferred from Augusta, Kansas to Beaumont, Texas with Mobil. He worked for Mobil for a total of 39 years retiring as a practical engineer specialist at the Mobil refinery. He was a lifelong faithful member of The Disciples of Christ Church, serving in numerous positions in the congregations in both Augusta and Beaumont.

In retirement Mitchel stayed active. He and his wife Hattie traveled extensively; they taught driver safety courses for many years, and he continued pursuing his hobbies of ham radio operator, woodworking and gardening.

Mitchel was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Hattie Ina Kingsley.

Mitchel is survived by his two sons Jim and Jerry and their wives, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Haverhill Christian Church near Augusta, Kansas under the directions of Headley Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in the Elmwood cemetery in Augusta.
