Katie Lou Hancock

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 5 at First Baptist Church in Bryan. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Family burial service will be at Johnson Cemetery in Stephenville.

Katie was born May 26, 1928 in Stephenville the only daughter of Albert and Lota (Roberts) Harris. She graduated from Tarleton State College. On June 20, 1947, she happily married Bluefford G. Hancock. Katie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Bryan where she taught training union, was a member of the WMU and a GA leader. She was also a member of the Extension Service Club and served as past-president. Katie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She always felt her greatest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Katie is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Joe and Judson Hancock and a daughter Penny Hancock Hervey.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Bluefford Hancock of College Station; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Cindy Hancock of Smithville, Jubal and Nika Hancock of Bryan; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Bob Grimes of Boerne, Kathy Eddens of College Station, Lucy and Jay Givens of Plainview; sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Denise Turner for her excellent care and we also appreciate all the loving attention that Katie’s special caregivers gave her these last few years.

We have all been blessed to have had Katie in our lives.
