Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday with a 7:00 p.m. rosary service at the funeral home.
Gene was born September 30, 1930 in Bremond the son of Lottie Zulkowski Stallone. He attended schools in Bremond, Calvert and Bryan. Gene proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated several Service Stations (Mobil and Texaco) in the Bryan/College Station area. Gene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He loved to hunt and fish with family and friends and listen to the Aggie baseball games.
Gene was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Lottie and Sam Stallone.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Zulkowski of College Station; son and daughter-in-law, Eugene Jr. and Cheryl Zulkowski of Caldwell; daughter Cheryl Jones of College Station; grandchildren, Jaime Jones and Paul McKenna of Cypress, Craig Jones and Bri Lowry of College Station, Alisa and Brad Hairston of Rockdale, Kyle Zulkowski of College Station; two great-grandchildren, Tyland Lackey and Kinley Jones; sisters and brothers –in-law, Dorothy and Oscar Wolff, Annette and Roland Harrison all of Bryan, Frances Scanlin of Houston; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Debbie Bomnskie of Bryan.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Stephanie, Ann, Stacy, Micki and Nate from Compassionate Care Hospice for the care they gave to Gene.
In lieu flowers, the family would like memorials to be sent to Compassionate Care Hospice or a favorite charity of choice.
