A memorial service for Chris will be held Saturday April 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Chris was born in Decatur, Alabama to James R. and Beverly (Houston) Eddens. He graduated with honors from Omaha Westside High School, in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The University of Texas in 1981. In 1985 he received his doctorate from UT Galveston Medical Branch, where he was a member of Theta Kappa Psi. He completed his medical residency in Wichita Falls in 1988.
Chris was an outstanding person, a beloved son and brother, a wonderful husband and father, a fine friend and a dedicated doctor. He loved the outdoors and some of his fondest memories were of hiking and biking with family and friends. Chris was a man whose strong faith carried him through a lengthy illness that eventually kept him from doing many of the things he loved with his children. When his health allowed, he loved to fish with his family and enjoy the beauty of nature, which he saw as God’s gift. He will be greatly missed.
His father, James R. Eddens, precedes Chris in death.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Beverly and Shepard Curelop of Tomball; wife, Kathleen Hancock Eddens of College Station; children, Aaron Eddens of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jason Eddens of Austin, Kyle Eddens and Callie Eddens of College Station; sister, Ruth Buchanan and husband Joe of Tomball; brother, Quince Eddens of Central, Pennsylvania; stepsister, Cassie Harmon and husband Mike of Lewisville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bluefford and Katie Hancock of College Station; Sisters-in-law, Becky Hancock Grimes and husband Bob of Boerne, Penny Hancock Hervey of College Station, Lucy Hancock Givens and husband Jay of Frederick, OK.; brothers-in-law, Jeff Hancock and wife Cindy of Smithville, Jubal Hancock and wife Nika of Bryan; and many loved nieces and nephews.
