Tony Valdez Jr., 49, of Bryan, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at College Station Medical Center. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station. Funeral service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at the funeral home. Officiating will be Chaplain Gary Mayfield.
Tony was born October 10, 1960, in Hobbs, New Mexico to Antonio Valdez, Sr., and Elsa Lopez. He loved and enjoyed working as a guard at a correctional facility making differences in the lives of the prisoners. He also enjoyed eating sunflower seeds while watching Nascar and the Dallas Cowboys.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Rosella Labbs.
Survivors include his wife Tammy Valdez, of Bryan; sons Raul Valdez of El Paso, Andrew Valdez of El Paso, and Shane Crochet of Minnesota; daughters, Elsa Valdez of El Paso, Roxann Valdez of Little Rock, Arkansas, Valarie Valdez of Little Rock, and Brandy Hernandez, of College Station; brother James Valdez of El Paso; sister Nannette Redd of Tennessee; his grandchildren Sydnee McGee of College Station, Brenden LaPlant of College Station, and 6 other grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his 2 wiener dogs Amber and Mocha Mean Dog.
