Our Beloved Dr. Weldon Alexandria Beasley-Davis was born on August 13th, 1931 to Weldon Alexander Beasley and Williametta Rebecca Beasley in Shreveport, Louisiana. On May 16th, 2017 God called her home as she slept peacefully in her bed. Dr. Davis lived a very accomplished and fulfilling life.
Dr. Davis was passionate about life, family, and education. She began her journey of accomplishments earning her first Bachelor’s Degree from Talladega College, and went on to pursue her Masters and Doctoral degrees from Atlanta University (now Clark Atlanta University). While pursuing her education she pledged Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated, Beta Nu Chapter in Gary, Indiana. Naturally, she took to the classroom to share her knowledge and love for learning. She taught at many schools from Gary Public Schools to Fulton and Gwinnett County Schools in Georgia. Teaching was a God-given gift she willingly and energetically shared with the world. During her pursuit of excellence she became a Lifetime Member of the NAACP. She was an active member, Deaconess, and Sunday school teacher at Friendship Baptist Church. She was later awarded the honored title of Deaconess Emerita.
In the midst of her fascinating career achievements she made time for her greatest accomplishment, her family. She met and fell in love with Robert Edward Davis Jr. and from their union they were blessed with two children - a son, Robert Edward Davis III (Daphne) ((Branden Marcel (Dinene) ((Myles)) Monica Cinetta ((Lyric Cheyenne)) Stephanie Diane, Jasmine Maranda, Myles Alexander)), and a daughter, “Wendy” Alexandria Davis-Jones (Jarvis) ((Angela Janelle (Bryan) ((Brianna Ariel)) Alexandria Frances Rebecca, Christopher Johnson)).
