Wendell Gene Knapp

Wendell was born August 22, 1932 in Branch County to Arlie's and Hazel Knapp. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1951. He joined the Navy and served on the USS English. He worked for the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities and Wickes Lumber. He loved spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. His other hobbies included woodworking, cooking, gardening, and board games and spending time with friends and family.

Wendell is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dawne; 3 sons, Michael (Gracelynn) Knapp, Scott Knapp, and Jeff (Linda) Knapp; Grandchildren, Dalyn (Kris) Cummings, Tanya (Tim) Wickey, Saralyn and Josiah Knapp; Great Grand Children Harper and Kinley Cummings, Aurora, Miles and Scarlett Wickey. He is also survived by his brother Gary (Connie) Knapp and sister Loretta Maloy; brother in laws Ted (Sharon) Barnes and Danny Priddy and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Janet and Ailene Knapp; brother in laws Steven Barnes, Bruce (Pam) Barnes and sister in law Beth Priddy.

Memorials are suggested to Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum.

Visitation will be March 1st at 10AM at Lockwood Community Church, 202 E. Lockwood Road, Coldwater, Michigan 49036 with the Funeral Service immediately to follow at 11AM. Interment will be held at Card Cemetery.
