In the year 1955, Martha received baptism and became a member of the Montego Bay SDA Church. In 1957, she married the man who captured her heart, Herbert Reid, and to this union was born Carol Delores, Norma Elaine, and Cleveland George. Their union lasted for more than 51 years before Herbert’s passing on March 3, 2009.
Mr. and Mrs. Reid became members of the Corona SDA Church in 1968. For many years, Mrs. Reid served as a deaconess and sang soprano with the Sanctuary Choir and the Melodic Chorale. She loved music and enjoyed singing all the time. Whenever there was a musical concert or event sponsored by the Corona Church, Martha was there enjoying every minute of the presentation along with her husband. Mrs. Reid remained a member of the Corona SDA Church until she retired, moved to Florida, and became a member of the Bethel SDA Church. She was also an outstanding professional Home Care Nurse for all of her working years.
Martha was a caring person who was affectionately known for her love of music. Her favorite song was “One Day at a Time”, and she sang it daily. Martha was also dedicated to Christian Education and church work. She loved to travel, enjoyed social events, shopping, sewing, and crocheting. At times around family and friends, Martha was a bit self-opinionated and very outspoken. She insisted on things being done in a certain way. However, we could get around that because we knew her heart was genuine.
Martha Reid leaves to mourn: daughters, Carol Burt-Miller (Baswick), Norma Ferguson (Max), and son Cleveland Reid (Roslyn). Nieces: Jennifer (Jeanie), Joycelyn, Norma, and Janet. Nephews: Dennis, Kenneth, Cleve, and Keith. Great-nieces: Lisa, Robin, Jasmine, and Janay. Great-nephew, Dave. Grandchildren: Cleveland Reid Jr. (CJ), Dorland, Shynea, Elaine, Latisha, Nadine, Brittney, Shavanna, Jacquese, Baswick Burt-Miller II, Norell, Nicholas, and Nelson. Martha also leaves to mourn eight great-grandchildren and a host of other friends, relatives, and loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all family and friends.
May Martha Eunice Reid rest in peace until the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
