Carol Margaret Black, age 86, died peacefully on December 9, 2024 at VITAS Hospice Center in Rockledge, FL. Born August 18, 1938 to Rufus Samuel Roebuck and Daisy Inez Garrett, Carol grew up in Loughman, FL and was a lifelong Florida resident.
Carol and her husband Elias Carr (“E.C.”) Black settled in Merritt Island and became Charter Members of Faith Lutheran Church. Carol worked as a bookkeeper at R&R Supply for many years and then as a florist upon her husband’s death. She resided in Merritt Island, FL since 1967.
Carol enjoyed sewing, had quite a green thumb, and was known for her quick wit and good sense of humor.
Carol is survived by her sons Kevin (Rujira), Ken (Joyce), Robert (Faith), step-daughter Phoebe (John), sisters Dorothy and Lila, grandchildren Bentisa (Gap), Nathan (Sara), Jessica (Cole) and Lauren (Wil), great-grandchildren Millie and Forest Treftz, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister Sandra Browne.
Special thanks to the wonderful people at VITAS for providing the end-of-life care for Carol. The family could not speak any higher of VITAS for the compassionate and professional level of care given.
Special thanks, also, to the wonderful people at Faith Lutheran Church who would call and check in on Carol once she was no longer able to attend weekly church services due to her health, especially Pastor Russell Frahm and his wife Karen.
No ceremony is being planned at this time. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church at 280 E. Merritt Avenue, Merritt Island, FL 32953.
