She married Paul A. Larson on December 17, 1955. Valerie grew up in Overland Park, Kansas until her family moved to Hot Springs, New Mexico when Valerie was about 17, where she graduated from high school in 1954.
Valerie went to work for the US Civil Service at White Sands Proving Ground in New Mexico where she met the love of her life, Paul Larson, then in the Army. They were married December 17, 1955 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico for 62 blissful years.
Paul retired from the Army in 1957 and they moved to Lake Jackson, Texas in 1957, where Paul went to work for Dow Chemical Company. During the next wonderful 62 years, Valerie and Paul proudly raised four super children, Cindy, David, Danny and John Paul. By now and to this day, Valerie was known as Hon.
Over the years in Lake Jackson, Hon became a good bowler, sang and danced in the Junior League Follies and some Christmas productions of The Nutcracker.
Valerie and Paul spent some time in Tokyo, Japan and Hong Kong where Hon learned to eat raw fish.
Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, Le Roy and Jean Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; daughter, Cindy; son, David (Whitney); son, Danny; son, John Paul (Lisa); seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation time will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. November 13, 2017, at Restwood Memorial Park, 1038 W Plantation Dr., Clute, Texas. Funeral services will be hold Tuesday, November 14 , 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 404 Azalea, Lake Jackson, Texas. Burial will follow at Restwood Memorial Park in Clute, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Max Mays, Brad Miles, Jeffery McCoy, Brad McCoy, John Paul Larson Jr. and Tyler Larson.
