It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Albert Haskovec, Jr., 44, of Hutto, Texas, announce his passing from his earthly life on Saturday, August 7, 2021, in Round Rock, Texas, from complications of COVID. He was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, on Friday, November 12, 1976, to Michael A. Haskovec, Sr. and Connie Weitzel. Shortly after his birth, the family relocated to Texas, making Brazoria County their home.
JR (Mike) grew up in Lake Jackson, graduating from Brazoswood High School in 1995. He attended Brazosport College, graduating second in his class in 1998, with a Certification in HVAC/R Technology. JR (Mike) was licensed with HVAC Type Universal, Texas State Refrigeration Technician, Texas State Journeyman Electrician, and NCCER Certified Refrigeration Technician. He made a career in HVAC/Refrigeration, working for TIC, CAPS, and Hussmann. In 2017, he moved to the Austin area to work for JM Engineering, LLC, where he ran the service department and trained his staff. JR (Mike) had a strong work ethic. A job done right and on time was important to him.
JR (Mike) spent many weekends surrounded by friends who shared his love of fast cars. He was happiest with his friends working on cars or enjoying a good race at Houston Raceway Park. Street racing was also a favorite pastime since he first started driving. JR (Mike) was the first to volunteer to help a friend or stranger in need. He was a loyal friend with witty humor and a big heart. JR (Mike) had a wonderful life and was loved by so many people. The relationships he made with others were very important to him.
He will be lovingly remembered by his father, Michael Sr. and wife Linda Haskovec, her children Misty McGlothern, JD McGlothern and wife Kimberly, his mother Connie Weitzel, his sister, Sandra Ottinger and husband Mark, his three nieces Brayann, Camryn, and Madelyn, his great-nephews, Cannon and Aaryn, and his great-niece, Isla, best friend Ryan Sabrsula who was like a brother to Mike. JR (Mike) has several close friends that were family to him, and they will always carry his memory in their hearts.
JR (Mike) was preceded in death by his grandparents Clarence and Darlene Haskovec and Conrad and Berneice Weitzel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 W. Plantation Dr, Clute, TX 77531, on Saturday, September 25th at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate in JR’s (Mike’s) name to SPCA of Brazoria County, 141 Canna Ln, Lake Jackson, TX 77566.
