August 24, 1982 – September 2, 2023
Mario Alberto Gomez, lovingly known as "Maito," peacefully gained his wings on September 2, 2023, at the age of 41, in the comfort of his home in Freeport, Texas.
Maito was born on August 24, 1982, to his loving parents, Juany and Mario Gomez. Maito was a devoted father, partner, son, brother, and friend and he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He touched the lives of countless family members and friends, and his absence will be deeply felt.
Maito had a passion for sports, and he cheered for his favorite teams with unwavering loyalty. His heart belonged to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Georgia Bulldogs, Houston Astros, and Rockets. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as listening to music and fishing. These moments brought him solace and contentment.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandpa, Jesus Reyes, his cherished grandma, Juanita Musquiz, and his dear uncle, Rene Gomez. Their spirits now join him in eternal peace.
Maito is survived by his one and only beloved son, Josh Gomez, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by his loving life partner, Claudia Gomez, and her children Isabella and Argenis Gomez, who brought immeasurable joy to his world.
In addition to his immediate family, Maito is survived by his dear sisters, Naomi (Joe Rodriguez), and Nacheli; and his brother, Edward (Ana Gomez). He was a caring uncle to his nieces and nephews and shared special bonds with cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless lifelong friends.
Maito's faith was a guiding force in his life, and he found comfort in the words of the Bible. In remembrance of his enduring spirit, we share the following scripture:
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." - Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
A Memorial service to celebrate Maito's life will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Restwood Memorial (Dignity), Clute, TX. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to join together in celebrating his life.
