The family of Maria Elena Salazar of Lake Jackson, Texas, is deeply saddened to announce her passing on November 17, 2024, at the age of 88. Maria was born to Eva Benavides and Tomas Benavides on November 22, 1935 in Los Ebanos, Texas.
Maria was known for her unwavering devotion to her family and her boundless love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She found joy in spending time with them, always ready with a kind word or a story. A woman of great wisdom, Maria had a wealth of knowledge on many subjects, and she loved to share her thoughts—whether asked for or not. Her vibrant personality and sharp wit made her a beloved presence in any room, and her culinary skills were unmatched. Maria’s strength and heart of gold will never be forgotten.
She leaves behind her children: Pedro Salazar Jr., Ramiro (Ram) Salazar and his wife Diana Salazar, and Eva Gutierrez and her husband Everardo Gutierrez. Also by her beloved son-in-law, Joe Guerrero. Her legacy also lives on through her grandchildren: Pedro Gutierrez, Alicia Gutierrez, Marcos Salazar, Mykel Salazar, Eric Salazar, and Alyssa Salazar, as well as her great-grandchildren: Ethan Salazar, Kaylee Salazar, Jenna Salazar, Sofia Elena Ramos, and Monica Alyssa Salazar.
Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pedro Salazar-Vela; her parents, Eva and Tomas Benavides; her daughter, Maria Del Carmen Guerrero; and her son, Tomas Salazar.
A viewing will be held at Restwood Funeral Home on November 21, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on November 22, 2024.
