James Sherwood Burris, 68, of Clute, passed away October 15, 2013. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, October 18 at Restwood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Willowdrive Baptist Church. There will be a short time for visitation prior to the funeral at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow at Gulf Prairie Cemetery in Jones Creek.
James was born March 31, 1945 in McGehee, Arkansas to Clyde and Beula Burris. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed by numerous family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Tommy Burris, Danny Burris and Stanley Burris; sister Retha Mae Cantrell.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Frankie Burris of Clute; sons Terry Burris and wife Mileesa of Houston, Timothy Burris and wife Candice of Houston; daughter Tamy Roberts and husband Tracy of Missouri City; sister Wanda Tullos; grandchildren Adam, Jared, Caleb, Nicholas, Darren and Valery; and one great-grandchild Alena, and many other extended family members and friends.
