Barbara was known by many of her friends as “Bobbi”. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. In her early years, she worked as a teacher’s aid in the special education department for blind children. Barbara also spent much of her time as the primary caretaker for elderly relatives and her grandchildren. She, then, worked as a secretary and receptionist for Aldous Real Estate. Barbara enjoyed the many years she spent as the Queen of her Red Hat Society groups and all the friends she made while she ruled. She exercised her competitive spirit in the local bowling leagues in Richwood and Angleton. In her later years, she loved to ride the bus to Coushatta Casino with friends and family members.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Bobbi Allen and husband, Frank Gressett; Step-Children, Karen Shields and Steven Shelby; Grandchildren, Jennifer Brown, Amanda Encarnacion and husband, Felipe, Joni Shields, Jason Shields and wife, Vanessa; Great-Grandchildren, Aaron, Jace, Benjamin, Steven, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Derek, and Avery.
Barbara was preceded in death by the love of her life, Raymond Shelby; her sister, Sharon Lemons; mother and father, Dorothy and Harold Greenwood; and her nieces, Talonna Duplantis and Linda Palacio.
A celebration of life is scheduled for December 1st, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at Life Foursquare church at 501 KaranKawa Street, Angleton, Texas 77515. Flowers may be sent to the church.
